I must admit, I miss blogging. I’ve taken a little unplanned hiatus from It’s A Great Blog After All, thanks to the craziness of graduation. Although I will also be busy this summer working and preparing for the Disney College Program, I plan to blog as much as I can. Thanks for being understanding Disney fans, and now onto the Walt Disney World 24-Hour Summer Kick-Off Celebration!
“To all who come to this happy place, WELCOME.” – Walt Disney
Magic Kingdom has opened it’s gates for 24 straight hours, kicking off the Coolest Summer Ever Celebration! For one day only, Magic Kingdom will be open from 6:00 AM May 22nd until 6:00 AM May 23rd. Talk about the happiest DAY on Earth! There would be time to conquer EVERYTHING (besides sleep, that is!) For my Favorite Things Friday, I just wanted to touch on the event in general, and talk about all the fun things one could conquer at this unforgettable and magical event!
For starters, costumes are ALLOWED for this event! Walt Disney World has a strict policy on wearing costumes into their parks, mainly because they do not want guests getting confused with the real deal. One can now show their Disney Side dressed up as their favorite hero, princess, or villain, all while wandering around Magic Kingdom for 24 straight hours. However, basic costume guidelines do apply to this event, so know the rules before you go!
It most definitely is not an easy task to conquer 24 consecutive hours at Magic Kingdom. To be honest, I’m usually exhausted around mid-afternoon, especially when that Florida sun starts beating down on you. Some tips I would suggest to anyone attempting to live and tell the tale of this event would be first and foremost, seek air-conditioning whenever possible. Some rides have their wait indoors equipped with air conditioning, so no matter how long the wait time is, at least you will be where it is cool. Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Country Bear Jamboree, and Hall of Presidents are all examples of air-conditoned attractions at Magic Kingdom, so I would suggest spreading those attractions out in your day.
Another tip would be do not get burnt out. If you need to take a break, don’t be afraid to head on the road less traveled to Tom Sawyer’s Island, or anywhere that is out of the way of the hustle and bustle of this INSANELY busy, but magical day.
There are so many ways to enjoy the festivities without being there, thanks to social media. You can follow WaltDisneyWorld on Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram for constant updates throughout the day and night, following all of the special events. You can also live stream the event on the Disney Parks Blog here!
This event gives you the opportunity to do things at Magic Kingdom that you may never have had time to do before. There are also special events going on just for the 24-hour event, so be sure to plan accordingly! For all of you lucky enough to be there today, ENJOY this once in a lifetime opportunity! I’m just happy I’m not an official Disney Cast Member and working this event…
